summertime

I got a request asking how summer school went for me.  I have not forgotten to tell everyone.  OK, well, maybe I did for a second, but now I remember and I will let everyone know.  It was oh-so-exciting.  Almost literally!  I swear, things happen to me that don’t happen to just anyone.  I don’t know what I was doing when they were handing out luck, but I definitely didn’t get my share.  I must have been looking at something shiny since shiny things easily distract me.

But, back to the point of this post.  I will tell you about summ-

Oh look!  Something sparkly!

this is the end

April 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Wow. School ends on Friday. I’m so excited I can hardly take it!

But…there is much work to be done between now and then and definitely not enough time to do it all. Our I-Core project is due Tuesday by noon and we still don’t have the whole thing written, let alone put together and bound and stuff. I have to work on that at some point today. I also have to work out, shower, go to Target (Target = my favorite place) to get stuff and do my police ride along. That’s right. I have to do another one because nothing happened on the one I went on last week. Well, I shouldn’t lie. Stuff happened, but definitely not enough stuff to put in a three page paper about it. Because, that’s right, I have a three page paper due on my ride along(s) AND a three page writing assignment due for my criminal justice class on Monday. Too much stuff! But, after Wednesday things sloooooow doooown. I’m ready for it, too.

After Wednesday the month of May actually starts to get exciting! Well, two finals on Friday. That kinda sucks. But then! Fun! Starts!

Hopefully Friday night I will be traveling to South Bend to see my friend L to celebrate her birthday (4/28), my birthday (5/5) and her non-anniversary (also 5/5). Then, Saturday is probably dinner with the boyfriend and his family for my birthday, Sunday is dinner with my dad and his girlfriend (iPod Touch *please*), and Monday is MY BIRTHDAY!! I’m trying to decide if I want to get some friends together for an early dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant in Broad Ripple before I do dinner or whatever with the boyfriend. Because, the birthday? Yup, Cinco de Mayo. I love how everyone celebrates my birthday with me. :o )

After that I have the Rose Dance for my Fraternity on the 10th, Associate Day at the Track (Indianapolis Motor Speedway) on the 16th (not a racing fan, but free food and autograph session = me. there.), my first Indianapolis Indians baseball game of the year also on the 16th, Maifest in Covington, KY (awesome German festival with good food and legal drinking in the streets. I wouldn’t miss it!) on the 17th, Cincinnati Reds game on the 18th and FLORIDA on the 19th-22nd. I’m a busy girl! But, after an entire year of working full-time and going to school full-time, I think I deserve it.

But now I guess it’s time to think about today. Get all my stuff done so I can get good grades and really enjoy the next couple weeks instead of worrying cuz I’ll have to retake all my classes!

I’m off to conquer the day!

spring break

March 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Even though spring break at IUPUI officially started yesterday, today I will officially get my spring break on.  That’s right.  Though many of my classmates and friends are partying it up in places like Tulsa, OK (for the Summit League Championship) (IUPUI plays Oral Roberts tonight in the Championship game!  Go Jags!), or warm, sunny Florida, I am heading to the truly exotic vacation destination of …….Cleveland, Ohio!!

You’re jealous, I know.

But, being a non-traditional student, I must take a non-traditional spring break.  My friends?  Go to school courtesy of their parents or their enormous scholarships.  I?  Go to school courtesy of the government and my oh-so-high-paying job (notice the sarcasm).  This means I cannot afford a trip to warm, sunny Florida.  Plus, being an older student, I have already done the wild and crazy spring break.  This was the first time around.  When I attended IU in Bloomington, IN and had my wild and crazy time, drinking and not attending classes.  I am still paying for these mistakes.  Make wise choices, readers.  I know it sounds lame, but believe me, it is good advice.

So, in a few hours, I head to Ohio to visit a friend.  Then, the two of us head to Cleveland to see a concert.  So my Ohio vacation is not totally pointless.  I am going to see two very awesome bands tonight at the Hard Rock in Cleveland.  Gaelic Storm is an amazing Irish band and the Scarlet Kings have been one of my favorites since I was 21.  So, its been a while.  If you ever get the chance, check them out.

And tomorrow!  I am excited about tomorrow.  Tomorrow?  I have a massage and a facial!  I am sooo excited.  I will be pampered.  I’m a little nervous about the facial since I have never had one before, and I’m kinda weird about people touching my face, so I may freak out a bit.  But the spa was smart.  They scheduled my facial after my massage, so I will not care that some strange woman is touching my face.  I love the spa!

Saturday is a different story.  Saturday the boyfriend and I have big plans.  We are going to clean. my. room.  This is actually huge because we have been saying this for a long time, and Saturday it will happen.

Currently, my room looks something like this:

This is NOT my room.  Do you really think I would post a picture of my messy room?

messy

On Saturday, my room will hopefully look something like this:

Master Bedroom

Yes, that’s right.  I’m hoping it will grow, install it’s own hardwood floors, and become slightly Victorian.  All in one day.

Well, readers, If I want all this to happen, I better get going.  Cleveland waits for no one!
