The following was taken, word-for-word, from an email I received from the Move On political organization. Because I completely disagree with and am deeply offended by what Joe Wilson did during Obama’s health care speech, I am posting it here and encouraging everyone to please donate what they can so we can get Rep. Wilson replaced in Congress by someone who deserves our votes and respect. If you feel as strongly as I do, or know someone who does, please feel free to copy this and post it in your own blog or as an email to your contacts
I usually don’t use this blog to ‘preach’ my political beliefs, but since I feel so strongly about this I just wanted to share in case others out there share my feelings.
Enjoy.
Yesterday, ignoring the calls from leaders within his own party, Rep. Joe Wilson refused to apologize on the House floor for shouting out “you lie!” during President Obama’s big health care speech.1
In fact, he recorded a new YouTube video defending his attacks on Obama’s health care plan and requesting donations for his re-election campaign!2
This is the kind of disrespectful and dishonest behavior we’ve come to expect from right-wing mobs and talk radio hosts recently—but it’s simply unacceptable for a member of the United States Congress.
Fortunately, we’ve got a great opportunity to replace Joe Wilson in Congress. Rob Miller is a Democrat and an Iraq war veteran, and last year he won 46% of the vote against Wilson despite raising half as much money.
Grassroots progressives are teaming up to help Rob Miller take on Joe Wilson, raising over $750,000 in less than two days. They’ve set a goal of raising of $1 million—can you chip in $5?
While Wilson initially apologized to the White House for his outburst, by yesterday he was already backpedaling. He refused calls from leaders of both parties to apologize on the House floor and claimed that he had been “overwhelmed” with supportive phone calls.3
And the conservative media is defending Wilson. Rush Limbaugh said on his show yesterday that Wison shouldn’t have apologized.4 Sean Hannity, who had Wilson as a guest on Fox News, told him, “You’re right and the president is wrong,” and urged viewers to donate to Wilson’s campaign.5
This is mean-spirited right-wing politics at its worst—and we’ve got to fight back. As President Obama said Wednesday night, “I won’t stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are. If you misrepresent what’s in this plan, we will call you out.”
Let’s help Rob Miller take on Joe Wilson. Click here to chip in:
Thanks for all you do.

So, first things first. The Colts won last night!!! Go Blue! It was such an exciting game and a great win against one of our biggest rivals. Probably our biggest rival. I’m sorry, but as a Colts fan I’m obligated to hate the Patriots, and I take my obligations very seriously. I don’t want to say too much here, because I know there are some people who haven’t seen the game yet and I don’t want to give too much away. Let’s just say that my boy Vinatieri is awesome and I was proud to be wearing his jersey last night.
We got to the bar way earlier than we needed to be there last night, however, which means that I drank way more than I needed to. Because of this I did not sleep well last night and did not feel great today. I’m getting too old to think that I can go out and still be fresh faced and well rested the next day.
Today kinda sucked at work, too. Each unit at the hospital where I work has scanners that they use to send their orders down to the pharmacy, and today, two of the scanners broke. Completely wouldn’t even turn on or anything. I went upstairs and futilely pushed the power buttons on them to no avail. We had to call in the experts so they could replace the CPUs, but they weren’t going to be there until between 3 and 6pm. So that meant that for about 6-9 hours each unit had to copy and tube down every individual order to us. The tube system was going non-stop and I wanted to pull out my hair. But, against all odds, I survived and made it down to campus to go to class tonight. Ready to learn all about corporate finance.
And tomorrow I have to wake up way early so I can get to the polls and vote before class. That sucks because I didn’t get much sleep last night, but I have been waiting for this day for a loooong time. I’m very excited to see who gets elected and how everything works out.
I love this country.

So, here I am again. Doing what I do best. That’s right, I’m procrastinating!
I’m in the library, supposedly working on a huge project for my Accounting Information Systems class, but it made my brain (and back) hurt. So I decided to take a break. I actually need to study for a test in my other accounting class anyway. So, it’s a good thing I stopped working on that for now.
I thought you’d all want to know that they caught the bastards that robbed me. They have apparently admitted to the robbery they committed against me and to four others, as well. The police think that they were possibly involved in up to 15 other robberies with similar M.O.s. I’m pretty sure that armed robbery carries a ten year prison sentence per count (at least in the state of Indiana). If so, these guys are looking at a good, long prison term. I’m not upset. In fact, I’m jubilant! I can walk from my car to my apartment at night without being afraid. I no longer have an anxiety attack every time I open the gate at my apartment complex or approach the gate at my friend’s. I can go to the store by myself at night without worrying that someone will take all my things. I know that these guys aren’t the only ‘bad guys’ out there, but they are the only ones who have ever robbed me. So, since they are safely locked up and behind bars, I can start to relax a little.
I’m even about to get a new camera. Oh lovely day! I recently had to attend a pretty important event for my Fraternity and didn’t have my camera to document. This made me very depressed. And for my father’s birthday recently, I took pictures on my lovely new phone. I can’t wait to get a new camera!
the iPod will have to wait a little longer. My dad got it for me for my birthday this year and I was afraid to tell him that it had been stolen because I thought he would be angry with me. Never mind the fact that he would probably be more worried about me because of the whole robbed-at-gunpoint-thing. I just didn’t want him to think I was being irresponsible with such an expensive gift. Silly, right? Oh well. Christmas is coming (eek!) and I guess I’ll see how good I was this year.
Also, the finance test that I was studying for the last time I was procrastinating wrote went well. I aced every single problem on it. Had a little trouble with the multiple choice (isn’t that the way it always goes?), but it didn’t hurt me enough to bring my grade down to badly.
I’d better start studying for the test I have today. This accounting class has two-part tests. Multiple choice questions on the first day and problems on the second. Makes me want to rip out my hair. Today is multiple choice. Hopefully I pass. I wasn’t so lucky on the first one.
